‘Clara’ from P Padmarajan’s Thoovaanathumbikal.

Maybe only she could comprehend love in all its depth, and be that herself.

Wishing to be the wound of the mad man’s leg, connected only to the single link of the chain shackling it; her heart cries out helplessly for an undying commitment.

Giving her love to anybody who comes to her craving for lust; she leaves a mark in people’s hearts, indelible and unforgotten.

She is the soul of the rain that heals the drought-stricken lives; and an ocean of selfless love, brave enough to let go the one she loves utmost.

They say she broke open the cages to free her from the clutches.

But no! She was locking herself in different cages, only to release him from the pain of guilt, despite her becoming his need.

To ease people’s pain, she became a sweet pain herself.

If this is not love; then it is, perhaps, beyond the understanding of humanity.

With her grace, innocence, charm and intelligence; she leaves the world in awe, adoring her pure soul as much as her nymphean beauty.
